The decision to build the Opera House was made in 1873. Miklós Ybl’s Neo-Renaissance palace has remained virtually unchanged in the 130 years since and continues to attract admirers of opera and ballet alike. Each year, thousands of tourists visit the building to take in one of Budapest’s most impressive 19th-century national monuments.

One of the most beautiful concert halls in Budapest, located along the Danube Promenade in Pest, was completed in 1865. The style is best described as Oriental and Hungarian Art Nouveau mingling with romance and a rich addition of uniquely pleasing detail, down to perfection. The imposing main concert hall, which can accomodate up to 800 people, is to this day one of the most significant venues of music life in Budapest.
